After months of working remotely as a freelancer for Famigo—writing articles, creating videos, and showcasing Korea from a foreigner’s perspective—I finally had the chance to take part in my first offline event. It was held on June 20, 2025, at Sinchon Star Plaza near Yonsei University.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the day turned out to be filled with new connections, meaningful interactions, and lots of fun.

First Real Meeting with the Famigo Team

I met two of our Korean staff, including my manager, as well as two lovely women from Poland—one of whom is a fellow employee, and the other a friendly part-timer for the day. For someone who usually creates from behind a screen, it was heartwarming to finally interact in real life. Even though we came from different backgrounds, we connected easily through our shared goal: bringing global voices into the Korean cultural space. Therefore, there was an instant sense of connection, and I felt truly part of the team.

What stood out most was how welcoming and attentive everyone was. My manager checked in with me, and the Polish team members were amazingly friendly, asking about my work, my background, and how I felt. It gave me a special sense of belonging, reminding me that even as a remote worker, I’m part of the Famigo family.

Our Mission: Connect and Inspire Global Voices through the SNS Creator Challenge to Share Korean Culture

The event focused on promoting two of Famigo’s key initiatives: one was "The SNS Creator Challenge 2025 – Shout Out Korea", and another one was "The Famigo Walk App Challenge – Walk, Earn, Connect".

c2ec75a5e75d7.png10bcb4d617e8a.pngOur main mission was to encourage foreigners to join Famigo’s SNS Creator Challenge, and inspire them to participate the Walking Challenge in our Famigo Walk app where they can earn points and use them in convenient stores. The goal was simple but powerful: create a warm, personal experience for people engaging with Korea and help them discover how they could share their own experiences in Korea through social media and how they can use our app.

At the event, our task that day was simple but meaningful: each of us had a key role—handing out thoughtfully packed event goodies including a QR code card, candies, cookies, small cakes, and a pen. The card linked participants directly to the contest site, where they could register to become content creators. We handed out fortune cards to foreigners passing through the Sinchon area. Each card was a small, thoughtful gesture—a blend of Korean tradition and fun, meant to create positive memories.

As I offered these cards and greeted passersby, I saw real curiosity and joy in their responses. It reminded me how small actions, shared with kindness, can bridge cultures in quiet but powerful ways. The excitement grew when we told them that one lucky winner would receive BTS fan, and there are other prizes like Random prize draw board, Snack sets, and Fortune cookie set as well.

Conversations That Mattered

Many foreigners were curious about the event, delighted to receive the free gifts—it sparked conversations, smiles, and even a few curious questions and some even gave video interviews for our website, sharing why they wanted to participate in the challenge. It was moving to hear their stories and see how excited they were to be part of a platform that values diverse experiences in Korea.

Insights Behind the Scenes

The event theme focused on “connecting creators”—showcasing Famigo’s projects and sharing tips for content creation. I enjoyed taking notes and photos, capturing moments of interaction and collaboration. Discussing ideas face-to-face—something I hadn’t done before at Famigo—felt energizing. There was a flow of creativity that only a live event can bring.

Reflection: A Day That Brought My Online Work to Life

I came into the event curious and a bit hesitant—after all, I’d never met anyone in person before—but left feeling inspired and connected—not only to the team, but also to the vision behind Famigo. . It was a small moment, but an important one: a reminder that technology connects us, but personal connections—face‑to‑face, heartfelt—complete the story.
