Last weekend, for the first time, we decided to visit a Korean village near our house. Living in Busan city, we always felt like we were missing the real flavor of village life. So we searched for a location and found Oryun Bondong Village, about 45 minutes to 1 hour away by subway and bus.
Our journey started from our city. At Kyungsang University Station, we changed our subway line at Seomyeon and got on Line 1. After getting off near Busan University Station, we took a local bus to reach the village. On the bus, we met a kind Korean person who noticed we were looking at maps and trying to figure out the stop. Without hesitation, they offered help and even guided us on where to get down. This is one thing I truly admire about Korean people – their kindness and willingness to help strangers.
As soon as we stepped into the village, the atmosphere felt completely different from Busan city. There were no CU or GS25 convenience stores like we’re used to. Instead, we found a small traditional shop where we talked with the Korean shop owner and bought some local snacks. They smiled warmly and even tried to have a little chat with us in simple Korean. It felt so welcoming.
The village itself was beautiful. Everywhere we looked, there were agricultural fields with green plants that reminded us of the natural vibe back in Bangladesh. The air was fresh, and there was a peaceful silence that’s so rare in the city. We walked further and discovered a lovely lake surrounded by hills. The view was breathtaking. We took photos, sat by the lake, and just soaked in the calmness.
Around 8 PM, we headed back home, retracing our route. It was a simple day, but it felt so refreshing. Seeing the traditional side of Korea and meeting helpful and kind people made it a special memory for us.
