After exploring many popular coastal spots in South Korea, I recently had the pleasure of visiting Daecheon Beach, located in Boryeong-si, Chungcheongnam-do. Compared to other crowded and commercial beaches, this one offered a surprisingly clean, quiet, and peaceful atmosphere—making it the perfect escape for anyone seeking calm over chaos.
Getting There & Where We Stayed
Our small group of friends drove to Daecheon Beach by car, which made the journey flexible and easy. For our overnight stay, we booked two motel rooms, each priced at just 58,000 KRW. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and quite reasonable for a beachside location, making it a budget-friendly option for short trips.
A DIY BBQ by the Sea
We arrived at the beach around 5 PM and were welcomed by the calming sound of waves and a soft golden sky before sunset. One of the highlights of this trip was our BBQ experience. Instead of eating out, we prepared everything at home—including marinated meat and side dishes—and booked a BBQ camping tent near the beach.
On weekdays, the full-day cost of a tent is usually 35,000 KRW, but since we only used it for about 4–5 hours, and it wasn’t crowded, we were generously charged just 10,000 KRW. (Tip: On weekends, it’s 50,000 KRW, and advance booking is required.) Grilling our own food with the ocean breeze in the background made the evening feel like a private seaside picnic.
Bringing the Taste of Home
Although Daecheon offers a variety of fresh seafood options, this time we decided to bring a touch of home with us. We packed traditional Bangladeshi food—Khichuri, Beef Bhuna, and Fuchka—and enjoyed our meal right by the beach. The combination of familiar flavors and the tranquil sea view was incredibly comforting and special.
Activities & More
Apart from the BBQ and beach walk, we also enjoyed a bike ride along the seaside, which allowed us to take in the natural scenery at a relaxed pace. The weather was kind, and the beach was not crowded at all—perfect for those who prefer quiet time in nature rather than big tourist spots.
Of course, no trip is complete without some memories captured, and I took plenty of photos to remember the moments. From sea views to golden hour glows, every corner of Daecheon Beach had something scenic to offer.
