NEWS FLASH!
The 2025 COEX Job Fair will take place this May at COEX in Seoul!

With this occasion I woud like to share an experience about my joining this fair in August 2024.
As expressed in my other articles, my experience in Korea in 2024 felt like a true dream. The kindness of the people embraced me like a warm hug, and the luck of discovering amazing things around me was in high quantity.
Little did I know, however, was that it would be exactly on my birthday that I would get some of the most incredible job opportunities in Korea.
So it was that instead of going out to celebrate, the sunny summer morning of my birthday found me making my way towards the COEX center in Seoul, opposite the majestic Bongeunsa temple, with the occasion of 2024's edition of the Global Talent Fair - one of the most - if not THE most amazing opportunity for foreigners looking to get hired in Korea!
As I was getting closer to COEX, I was already greeted by commercial spots for the newest Korean dramas and movies taking the world by storm, including Officer Black Belt, Kim Woo-bin newest action movie - that was also all about finding your worth in the world and doing a job that fits your aspirations and beliefs.

Inspired, I made my way inside the building. Moving on to the job fair, I have to say it was a truly immersive hands-on experience to interviewing - including building a resume and learning about the requirements that Korean employers impose on foreigners.
And luckily, I already had some experience attending job fairs both from Korea and my home country, so I wasn't intimidated that easily - especially because of going through lengthy discussions with possible employers but realizing how much they needed my Korean skills to be top-notch^^ But at the same time, I felt welcome and comfortable since I was surrounded by many foreigners in the same situation as me, queuing up to print their resumes, networking at coffee-break resting spots, or simply sharing their experiences during our waiting to speak with employers. It felt like being part of a big family.

I must've been there for about 6 or 7 hours already... when tired but filled by joy because of meeting so many amazing people - I was however about to call it a day and go back home. On my way out I stumbled across the booth of a company that I realized I was actually meaning to go and have a chat with since I arrived, but it always seemed crowded. "The sign of a good company!" I thought. And so it was - the CEO was a very fun and interesting person, I came to discover. We chatted very high-spiritedly, and he was excited both by my language skill but also by my technical skills, a combination which I learned that is rather rare to come by in that context. I was also equally interested in the object of their activity at the company - namely some 3D Lidar sensors and smart gesture detection when driving - so we ended the meaning in very high note and he expected me to come for a proper interview and company tour in Pohang, where his company was located.
Slightly hesitant but definitely very happy, I made my way home thinking that this experience was an infinitely much better birthday present for me than any other celebration with chimaek or cafe hopping in Seoul^^
The journey continued in Pohang - sharing in next articles!
