Today, I brought the news of the Ministry of Employment and Labor's intensive inspection period for violations of labor laws.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced that it will select vulnerable workplaces among foreign employment sites and conduct preemptive inspections and supervision for five weeks from April 28 (Monday) to check and prevent violations of the labor law for foreigners.
As with the recent death of a foreign worker at a pig farm in Yeongam, Jeollanam-do, foreign workers have difficulty responding to violations of labor laws such as overdue wages and bullying in the workplace due to verbal and status restrictions. Through this supervision, we plan to preemptively discover foreign employment workplaces that are expected to be vulnerable in employment management, and to take measures and correct violations of labor-related laws against foreign workers.
Among the workplaces subject to supervision, 150 workplaces that are expected to be vulnerable to foreign employment management were selected based on frequent changes in foreign workplaces, reports of violations of labor laws, and businesses that filed a number of local complaints.
Focusing on vulnerable areas of foreign workers such as wage arrears, workplace harassment, sexual violence, and sexual harassment, violations such as the Labor Relations Act and the Foreign Employment Act will be checked to strictly deal with violations of the law, while actively guiding them to prevent similar cases from occurring in the future.
During this period, the labor inspector visits the workplace in person, and if there are foreigners who are being treated unfairly because they are always waiting at the government office, please visit the local labor office.

고용노동부는 외국인고용 사업장 중 취약 사업장을 선별하여 외국인 대상 노동법 위반 여부를 확인하고 예방하기 위한 선제적 점검·감독을 4.28.(월)부터 5주간 집중 실시한다고 밝혔는데요.
최근 전남 영암 돼지농장 외국인근로자 사망 사례와 같이 외국인근로자는 언어적, 신분적 제약으로 임금체불, 직장 내 괴롭힘 등 노동법 위반 등에 대한 대응에 어려움이 있습니다. 이번 감독을 통해 고용관리가 취약할 것으로 예상되는 외국인고용 사업장을 선제적으로 발굴하고, 외국인근로자에 대한 노동관계법 위반사항을 적발하여 조치·시정할 계획입니다.
감독 대상 사업장은 고용허가제(E-9) 사업장 중 잦은 외국인 사업장변경, 노동법 위반 신고사건 및 지역 민원 다수 제기 사업장을 기준으로 외국인 고용관리가 취약할 것으로 예상되는 150개소를 선정했습니다.
임금체불, 직장 내 괴롭힘, 성폭력·성희롱 등 외국인근로자 취약 분야를 중심으로 노동관계법 및 외국인고용법 등 위반사항을 점검하여 법 위반에 대해서는 엄정하게 조치하는 한편, 향후 유사사례가 발생하지 않도록 적극 지도한다고 합니다.
해당 기간에는 근로 감독관이 업장을 직접 방문하고, 관서에 항시 대기하기에 혹여나 부당한 대우를 받고 있는 외국인 분들이 있다면 지방 노동청에 방문하시기 바랍니다.
