This posting is about regional wide-area visas, especially D-2 visas.

1. Implementation of a Pilot Project for Regional Metropolitan Visas
- Enforcement for study visas (D-2) and specific activity visas (E-7-1, E-7-2, E-7-3)
- Planned to be implemented by 2026
- Study visa is implemented in Seoul, Busan, Incheon, Gwangju, Gangwon, Chungbuk, Chungnam, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, and Jeju
- Specific activity visas are implemented in Daegu, Gyeonggi, North Gyeongsang and South Gyeongsang provinces
- In the case of Ulsan and Gyeongnam, which submitted a business plan for the shipbuilding sector, it is decided whether to implement it after further deliberation
2. Details of the D-2 visa pilot project (Italic is eligible, Underscored is beneficial)

- Incheon City: For students enrolled in domestic campuses of foreign universities.
Expanded the maximum period of stay from one year to two years. Internship activities are allowed during the semester if the requirements such as completing KIIP level 4 or higher are met
- Gwangju City: AI Future Automotive Department Target. Department financial requirements eased by 50%.
- Gangwon-do: Subject to the departments related to the future industries (semiconductor, bio-health, future mobility, future energy, food technology, ICT).
Divide tuition and living expenses when proving financial requirements. Expanding the hours allowed for part-time employment (up to 30 hours). Internship activities during the semester are allowed if the requirements are met, such as completing 4 or more KIIP steps
- Chungcheongbuk-do: Subject to departments related to aviation, cosmetics, food, bio, root industry, welfare personnel, automobiles, semiconductors, and secondary batteries.
Financial requirements for international students participating in Chungbuk-type work-study at the same time are 50% relaxed. Extension of part-time employment hours (up to 30 hours)
- South Chungcheong Province: Major in rural areas and five major industries in South Chungcheong Province (automobile parts, semiconductors, displays, petrochemicals, steel).
Financial requirements for rural areas, five major industries in South Chungcheong Province, and international students participating in South Chungcheong Province-type work-study parallelism are 50% eased. Expansion of part-time employment hours (up to 30 hours)
- Jeollabuk-do: For foreigners-only contract departments, regional specialized departments, and root industry training colleges.
Internship activities are allowed during the semester if the requirements are met, such as 50% relaxation of financial requirements for local industry-related universities, expansion of part-time employment hours (up to 30 hours), and completion of KIIP level 4 or more
- Jeollanam-do: Subject to the department of linkage with local core industries (bio, energy, shipbuilding, chemical, steel, welfare, tourism, etc.).
Financial requirements are 50% relaxed, part-time employment hours are allowed (up to 30 hours), and some professional jobs are allowed (care workers, chefs, and cooks)
- Jeju Island: Tourism industry, RISE industry-linked department subject.
Financial requirements eased for international students in the tourism department (10 million won or more per year). Extending the number of hours allowed for part-time employment.

- After passing each local university's department or university, contact the relevant university or local government

- 인천시: 외국계 대학교 국내 캠퍼스 재학생 대상.

- 각 지역 대학 대상 학과 혹은 대학 합격 후, 해당 대학 또는 지자체에 문의
특히, 대다수의 지자체가 학기 중 인턴 활동을 허용하거나, 학기 중 아르바이트 시간을 늘려준 것은 주목할 만하다고 할 수 있겠습니다.
